David Ball Group plc, the Cambridge-based specialist in industrial sands, PUDLO concrete water-proofing admixture, and associated construction sealants and screeds, has appointed Chris Howard as group chief executive.
Mr Howard takes up the role after successfully running Pudlo, the Group’s specialist division in concrete waterproofing using the world-famous Pudlo admixture.
This key appointment comes as David Ball Group PLC restructures to accommodate the last four years of sustained growth in preparation for further expansion.
Momentum
Mr Howard joined David Ball Group PLC as sales manager in 2004, bringing new momentum to sales, technical support and promotion of the Pudlo brand, culminating in the creation of the dedicated Pudlo Division.
As divisional director, Mr Howard has overseen a move to direct sales of the product and the development of industry leading technical and installation support to Pudlo specifiers and end-users.
Early design consultation and rigorous supervision of site preparation, pours and curing enable the company to provide a 20 year, insurance-backed guarantee of built structures which have been constructed using Pudlo-modified concrete.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Howard said: “David Ball Group plc is now within the top 50 fastest growing companies within its industry sector, whilst remaining in the top 30 listed under profitability. The challenge now is to build on this hard won position in the face of probably the most challenging trading conditions our industry has ever faced. I believe we have the team in place to achieve this.”
Prestigious
Pudlo-modified concrete is used in structures such as basement walls, slab, bridge parapets and tanks, including high rise buildings and waterside construction with high hydrostatic pressures. It has been used in many prestigious projects, including the Royal Albert Hall, Wimbledon Centre Court and the Olympic Velodrome, to name but a few.
Mr Howard lives in St Neots with his wife, Maureen. In his spare time, he is a keen golfer and ten-pin bowler.
